The Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Move

We were asked to move their offices from the Intrepid Sea and Air Museum to 199 Water Street. The move took place the day after the Boston Marathon bombing and there was extensive police presence at the museum and the ports. UMC men had no issues with clearing checkpoints due to our policy of employee screening and background checks. Thank you to The Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research for allowing us to assist in your move.

How to Avoid These Major Mistakes When Hiring Movers

    Last updated 1 month ago

A simple way to reduce the amount of stress that comes with planning a major move is to hire a moving company that you can trust. One of the biggest mistakes that you can make when preparing for your relocation is to forego researching the moving company you decide to hire.

After narrowing down your choices, avoid any further complications down the road by insisting that the company evaluate your home or office in person before providing you with a price estimate. A Basic Guide to Office Packing

    Last updated 1 month ago

Packing up a commercial space in preparation for an office relocation can feel like a grueling process at times. Fortunately, there are several effective strategies that you can implement to get your items safely from your old space to their future home. Here is a basic guide to office packing:

Delegate Tasks to Your Employees to Maximize Manpower
A easy way to maximize efficiency in the office during the packing process is to put each employee in charge of moving his or her personal items. This includes the smallest objects such as staplers and pens as well as larger items like personal computers. Office furniture such as desks and chairs should, however, be left for your corporate moving company to pack up.

Empty Cabinets and Drawers for Safe Travels
Although most cabinets and desks will be sealed to prevent drawers from sliding out, it’s a good idea to empty the contents of these drawers before your movers arrive. This will prevent items from becoming damaged while in transit to the new office. Other furniture items that should be emptied out include bookshelves, credenzas, and supply cabinets.

Check Manuals and Leasing Contracts Before Packing Electronics
If fax machines, copiers, and other large electronic equipment in your office are on lease, then be sure to contact your leasing company to discuss their preferences for transporting the equipment. Many leasing companies prefer to move the equipment themselves for insurance purposes. Items that are owned by your business should be carefully wrapped and boxed by experienced commercial movers who can ensure that vulnerable parts, such as glass screens and speakers, won’t become damaged.

The commercial movers at U.M.C. Moving can help you pack up your office during your upcoming relocation. No matter how large your space is, we have the equipment and the experience necessary to ensure that every item makes it safely to your new location.
